Can a spirit filled Christian who hears God still be deceived?

There is a family, it consist of a father, mother, and daughter. Their relationship is great. The father comes home during normal hours and is able to have dinner with his family. At the dinner table, they chat about what the daughter studied in school and other things. The daughter is only 16, she is still in high school. The relationship between the parents are good as well.

The relationship with the daughter and mother is excellent. In fact, they like to shop together, they like to discuss the things of life. They discuss the girlie talks of life. When the daughter spends time with the father, they discuss her future plans. They discuss the possible colleges to attend and her career options. Life seems great within this family. Everyone appears to be in good spirit. Trust, love, and sacrifice are the foundation of this family. At least so it appears.

However, when the weekend rolls along, when the parents are a sleep, the daughter sneaks out. The daughter has a secret boyfriend. While her parents are asleep, her daughter goes out and parties with her friends and her boyfriend.

The daughter believes she is hurting no one. The daughter believes she is not really doing anything bad. She believes this is all innocent fun. She knows if she is caught, her parents will be furious. However, as far as she is concerned, they are her parents and they should eventually forgive her. She knows the parents will eventually give her grace.

She does not understand the deception in which she is creating. On the surface, her relationship with her parents are great. But the daughter has a deceptive spirit. She is intentionally deceiving her parents.

She also does not understand the dangers of sneaking out. At her age, what is a boyfriend? To have fun? That fun will only lead to trouble. There is a chance of getting pregnant if they fornicate. There is a danger of someone taking advantage of her. There is also danger if alcohol or drugs are involved. Perhaps, a bad auto accident is in the waiting. There is a danger of life and death.

How can the parents get to her if they do not know what is going on? As far as the parents are concerned, everything appears great. How can the parents protect her if she is doing it behind their backs? How can the parents know?

Unlike the parents, God know everything. A spirit filled Christian can be in a relationship with God just as the daughter is having with the parents. However, if there is sin or if the Christian is deceived, you may still be enjoying a relationship with God but God cannot communicate to you in the area where your heart has hardened. HE can speak to you in all the other areas and you can still hear Him but He is not able to get to the place where you have hardened your heart.

What will God do? He sends other messengers to you to give you a message in regards to that area of sin or deception. The sad part is that many spirit filled Christians who hears God will then let pride go to work and just as stiffed neck people have said before to Moses during Korah's rebellion....they will more or likely say, "The Lord is with me, I hear God!!"

Numbers 16:2-3 (Amplified Bible)
2And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the Israelites, 250 princes or leaders of the congregation called to the assembly, men well known and of distinction.
3And they gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, [Enough of you!] You take too much upon yourselves, seeing that all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you lift yourselves up above the assembly of the Lord?

But because they did not listen to Moses and usurped his authority, they basically went against God even though they were God's children. And as a result, the land opened up and Korah and all his household of men went to Sheol alive!! Do you think they made it to heaven?

Numbers 16:28-34 And Moses said, By this you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, for I do not act of my own accord: 29If these men die the common death of all men or if [only] what happens to everyone happens to them, then the Lord has not sent me. 30But if the Lord causes a new thing [to happen], and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up, with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into Sheol (the place of the dead), then you shall understand that these men have provoked (spurned, despised) the Lord!31As soon as he stopped speaking, the ground under the offenders split apart 32And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households and [Korah and] all [his] men and all their possessions.(A)  33They and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol (the place of the dead); and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the assembly.
34And all Israel who were round about them fled at their cry, for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also

Communicating from the spirit realm to the physical appears to be very complex. It is difficult for the finite mind to understand. If I can use an example in attempt to describe what God revealed to me, let me use a coaxial cable. A coaxial cable has many tubes or channels to bring in feed to bring visual picture. If the coaxial cable is only getting 95% feed and there is a 5% tear, I believe, in most cases you will still get picture. It may not be crystal clear but you will get picture (or lets say a message). Imagine 20 years ago, who would have thought what Blue Ray crystal clear picture was all about. You see, if you only get 95% picture and have never seen Blue Ray, we would think the 95% is pretty good. So what is causing the 5% tear in communication? It is sin or deception! How can God talk to us in that 5% if there is sin in which we are not allowing the Holy Spirit to root it out. Those channels are blocked by sin. But we can still be hearing or watching the 95% of feed and if we do not know there is a 5% that can make it much better, we might just assume the 95% is good enough. Of course, this is all an analogy.

What if the spirit filled Christian ignored the messages of God? After all, God may send messages throughout the years for He is long suffering. After time, the sin that the Christian allowed will bring judgment on him/herself and bring sickness (heart attack, cancer, etc). Will the Christian humble themselves and cry out to God for mercy during their sickness or assume it is part of the fallen world? Moses' people were only sick when they had rebelled! If I live in holiness and follow His commandments and commands, we can live above the fallen world for if we are born of God we are Overcomers!!

Therefore brethren, you must always walk in humility. Your life will be a test. God may send a donkey to give you a message. God may send the new believer from the back of the pew to give you a message. God may send His prophets to give you a message. God may send an unbeliever to give you a message. The question is, will you listen out of humility or ignore out of pride? The answer of course is to listen out of humility and then go ask God if that is a message from Him to you. Be blessed brothers/sisters.

Proverbs 10:27 The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord prolongs one's days, but the years of the wicked shall be made short.

Proverbs 15:10
There is severe discipline for him who forsakes God's way; and he who hates reproof will die [physically, morally, and spiritually].

Psalm 2:11
Serve the Lord with reverent awe and worshipful fear; rejoice and be in high spirits with trembling [lest you displease Him]

Ephesians 5:27 That He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such things [that she might be holy and faultless].

Revelation 19:8 She has been permitted to dress in fine (radiant) linen, dazzling and white--for the fine linen is (signifies, represents) the righteousness (the upright, just, and godly living, deeds, and conduct, and right standing with God) of the saints (God's holy people)

Glory to God, for the Glory belongs to Him and Him alone
