We must be a people ready and balanced. We must be watchful and ready with our lamps filled with oil for the Lord's return but yet spiritually strong to be martyred if necessary. What if persecution comes first? How many are ready to die for HIM? Many can say it with their mouths but many are far with their hearts.
If we are not dying daily to our flesh, how will we literally die for HIM when we are called to do so for His Kingdom? Only when your flesh is dead will you be spiritually strong because you have already died in Christ and will no longer be afraid of death or pain. If we cannot overcome the smaller things in our comfort, how will we overcome persecution in pain? Search your hearts brethren.
Romans 12:1-2 ESV "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect"
1 Peter 4:1-2 ESV "Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God."
Romans 6:11-14 ESV "So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace."
