When Jesus showed up in human form, we would assume everyone especially His own people would openly and warmly welcome Him. After all, isn't this what most Christians would say today? If we can see Him today, we would obey, submit, surrender, and do as He would tell us?
But strangely, when He had come to His own people, they had Rejected Him. How could this be? We can understand the world not recognizing Him, but His own people?
If we meet Him today, would we recognize Him? Or would we reject Him. Of course, we all would say we would not reject Him. But how do we know?
Today, Jesus comes to us by His Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes to us in many ways. HE may speak to us through the bible, church, pastors, preaching, other brethren, other authorities, His Will, a prophecy, a spiritual gift, directly and other authorities.
If HE comes to us through a spiritual gift and we reject that, are we rejecting Him? If we read a word or commandment from the bible and we reject and do not live accordingly, are we rejecting in Him? If we listen to a sermon and we are convicted and know what to do is right but we don't do, is this considered rejecting Him? If He wants us to go somewhere, do something, or say something and we don't, are we rejecting Him?
In order not to make the same mistake as our previous ancestors, we must always submit and obey to the King. This means we must be constantly moving forward from glory to glory, dying to ourselves, getting cleansed of our hearts, always seeking His Will, forgiving, giving grace, loving, submitting to all His authorities, quickly obeying, quickly repenting, overcoming, enduring, persevering, living a life of sacrifice, learning and knowing Him more each day, passing our tests, trials, and tribulations, praying, reading, worshipping, etc.
We must look to the cross and know what it really means to follow Him. Otherwise, most are living a life of formality with God. We can possess spiritual gifts, have experienced supernatural events, having read and been a Christian a long time and still be in formality (religious). Formality is not following God with a full surrendered heart. Do not deceive yourselves.
May we come to the fullness of our God to know Him and the resurrected Life in Him. May we truly be His people and HE our God. May we never end up rejecting our King in any way or manner. Lord, grant us eyes to see and ears to hear.
