BE LOWLY IN HEART by Diane Solver

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the LORD and He will lift you up.” James 4:10

Lucifer is an angel of Light before. He is perfect, holy and he always beholds the glory of God. He was perfect until pride strikes him. That is why he is thrown out from heaven. If a perfect angel was stricken with pride how much more a man? We are more vulnerable than we think we are. JESUS said that we must learn from Him because He is meek and lowly in heart.

What does it mean to be humble? Some people say that those who are meek, humble or lowly are weak people. In this generation, we can see how people always compete with each other to prove their capabilities. People want to be high above others, beautiful above others, bright above others, rich above others, famous above others, etc. They don’t want themselves to look so weak and small. They want praises, salutations and honor. They want others to notice them, to acknowledge them and to envy them.

God said, “I will not give my glory to another.” Isaiah 42:8.  All glory and honor belongs to GOD alone. If we claim any good things as if it were from us, or as if it belongs to us, then we are claiming some honor and glory. Humility is recognizing that in us we are nothing and have nothing, and therefore, everything in life is a gift from God’s hand.

JESUS said that we should learn from Him the virtue of being humble. “Learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,” JESUS is meek and lowly in heart. He is a King yet He humbles Himself as a Servant. Jesus says that if we will learn from him to be gentle and lowly in heart, we will find rest for our souls. Have you ever noticed that proud people are restless? They are those people who always compete. They are those people who always want to be number one. They judge themselves and others according to their achievements, their possessions, their gifts from GOD, their house, their car, their appearance, their knowledge, etc. They always want to prove themselves.

We don’t have to prove anything to God or to prove ourselves to other people. All that we have comes from GOD. How can we boast of something we do not even own? We do not own anything. All good gifts are from GOD and He gave us those gifts to use it for His glory and not for our glory. A real servant of GOD will not want himself to be exalted. All he would want is to exalt and glorify GOD.  He will not seek to be praised by men but he will seek others to praise GOD.

Daddy said that when pride strikes a person, he/she will gradually become deaf in hearing God’s voice. His being proud will make him think that GOD is still with him even the truth is not. GOD hides Himself to the proud. But when a person humbles himself again before GOD, GOD will draw near to him. “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out…” 2 Chronicle 12:7

GOD teaches the humble. He is always with the humble. “The humble He teaches His way.” Psalm 25:29 If we are not humble, we are unfit to be taught by JESUS. It is because we are so prideful that we think we do not need His teachings anymore. We must always empty ourselves. Empty vessels may be filled; but vessels that are full already can receive no more. The man who knows his own emptiness can receive more knowledge, more wisdom, and grace from JESUS. But he who glories in himself is not in a fit condition to receive anything from God.

But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6

Before, my friends have told me how special I am to Daddy and they say that they envy me. They think that whatever I ask, Daddy will grant it because He loves me more than them. But I told them that we were all equal in God’s eyes. GOD is not a respecter of any person. He has no favorites. Whatever gifts and blessings he had given to a person doesn’t really mean that he/she is more important, more special to GOD.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

When I asked Him, “Daddy what makes a person looks beautiful, special and perfect to You?” And He said that it is when a person is being washed by the blood of His Son JESUS. JESUS removes our sins by His blood and He made us clean and acceptable in GOD’s eyes. He said that when a person sin and becomes proud, and he/she did not ask for forgiveness and did not repent, that person looks ugly to Him. Daddy does not look on our outer physical appearance. He looks on the heart. And this is also why demons look so ugly and disgusting because they sinned against GOD.

We must always remember that GOD had lent us all the gifts and blessings in life that we received. It is not from us, but from GOD. We should not boast that we have those gifts and blessings and tell or show others that we are special. We should not exalt ourselves in any way. We should only exalt GOD for He alone deserves to be glorified.

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” James 4:10

ALL GLORY TO GOD!
