We are always looking for something free, are we not?

Today, in our culture, the masses have been programmed to get something for free. People are always looking for something for free or a discount. Our culture and corporate marketing have intensified this phenomena. But is it a new phenomena? I do not believe it is a new phenomena. It is something in our blood. It is in the flesh. It is part of the nature of sin.

Christians say to one another and even others, "God bless you." Yes, we want to be blessed. It is our desire to be blessed. But the question is, which blessings are we really looking for? Are we looking for material or spiritual blessings. And if you are to be blessed whether material or spiritual, what is your motive for possessing it? Is it for your own comfort and well being?

Unbelievers want to be blessed too. If we met an unbeliever who was having some difficulties and some believers asked if they could pray for them, in most cases, the unbeliever would accept! Even though they do not want to acknowledge God or believe onto Him, they are willing to receive His blessings!!!!

Many Christians are like the unbeliever. They want the blessing but they do not want to give Him the Glory nor OBEY or pay a price. Blessings do not just fall on your laps. Blessings are conditional to your obedience to the requirements of God's Kingdom. There is a law, it is a law in which one will reap what one sows. If you sow disobedience, you will reap torment and eventually destruction. If you sow obedience, you will be reap righteousness in Christ and blessings.

Even after Egypt and Pharaoh had experienced the ten plagues from God including losing his first born, Pharaoh did not give God His Glory nor revered or feared Him. However, Pharaoh knew God existed as His Divine Power was demonstrated through Moses. Yet instead of getting on His knees repenting and giving God Glory for who He is, Pharaoh, after losing his first born finally gives Moses permission to leave with all their possessions. But to top it all off, Pharaoh asks Moses to ask God to bless him even after going through the judgments of God.

Exodus 12:30-32 (AMP)Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.31He called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, get out from among my people, both you and the Israelites; and go, serve the Lord, as you said.32Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone! And [ask your God to] bless me also.

God is reminding me to tell His Body to Give HIM the Glory and Worship for who He is and not for what He can give you in blessings. He is GOD! But even if you are to be blessed, it is NOT FREE. The blessings of God are conditional to your obedience to His Word and commandments.

Egypt was literally devastated and Pharaoh had lost his first born. But instead of submitting and surrendering to God and giving HIM Glory, he rather looked for a blessing instead. Are most of today's Christian any different. Instead of realizing the judgments of God in their lives to open their eyes and fully surrendering to HIM, we rather ask for a free blessing.

Fire of God!
