Come Broken before HIM

Luke‬ ‭7:37-38‬ ‭(AMP‬‬) “And behold, a woman of the town who was an especially wicked sinner, when she learned that He was reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment (perfume). And standing behind Him at His feet weeping, she began to wet His feet with [her] tears; and she wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed His feet [affectionately] and anointed them with the ointment (perfume).”‭‭

This woman represents all of us. She had lived a sinful and difficult life full of hurt in her heart. People had rejected her, treated her with contempt, and no one had recognized her. Nevertheless, she was determined to step out of her past life full of many problems. Therefore, she came broken and humbled before God, Jesus.

Breaking an expensive alabaster jar with spikenard perfume was everything she had. Not only financially, but rather, she had given all of herself to God without holding any of herself back.

There were no excuses of how she had become such a sinful person, and why she had to act this and that way. She did not give any excuses for her sins. She was broken in tears and realized that she was a sinner who desperately needed Jesus. Her genuine act of repentance had moved Jesus. Her genuine brokenness had brought a great affection toward the sinner and Jesus defended and protected her when the people around her began judging and criticized her.

John 12:3 said “...And the whole house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.”
‭‭Song of Solomon 1:12 (voice) Her: When the king was relaxing at his table, the seductive fragrance (nard) of my perfume filled the air.

The perfume she used was made of spikenard. It can also be called nard. In Greek, the word for “spikenard” or “nard” means “genuine and pure.” In Hebrew, it means “light”.

The woman was genuinely repenting with a pure heart. She had come into the light to be saved. She had come to get out of her old life, old habits, old thinking, old way of speaking, and be set free from all kinds of problems. She decided to live a life of light. Our genuine, pure and humble repentance will bring forth beautiful and rare fragrance. This fragrance will attract the God’s (King’s) attention. This humble act will fill the atmosphere and bring forth the presence of God in our lives and within our hearts. Ancient people believed the fragrance of spikenard had a romantic power. Yes, we can spiritually be involved in a romantic relationship with Jesus, our King. I have had experienced this kind of relationship and I am still experiencing how romantic Jesus is. But this type of relationship requires some hard choices.

Psalm 51:17 (voice) What sacrifice I can offer You is my broken spirit because a broken spirit, O God, a heart that honestly regrets the past,You won’t detest.

Psalm‬ ‭51:17‬ ‭(AMP‬‬)“My sacrifice [the sacrifice acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart [broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise.”
‭‭
Psalm 51 expresses how we must become. Such a way in one’s repentance will prevent oneself from going back to the same sin over again and again. Come before the Lord totally broken without giving any excuses nor throwing a pity party for yourself. God is willing but GOD WILL NOT FORCE YOU NOR WILL HE MAKE A CHOICE FOR YOU. God will lead you and help you to rightly choose.

Grace is given to all of us. Too many are lightly treating grace. Grace is not there to pardon your sins, nor to cover up your sins and faults so that you may sin and make faults over again and again. Grace is not there to give you a free "pass" for your sins. God desires to empower us through Grace. Empower to overcome the spiritually battles, empower to repent of our sins, pray, love, endure, be patient, stop blowing up with anger, forgive, let go, move forward and much more. Grace will feed and cloth you but grace will not make the right choice or bring some sort of breakthrough for you. Grace will not bring miracles unless you properly utilize it.

Let us desire to please God. Let us bring smiles to His face. Let us stop grieving Him. Let us stop breaking His heart. If we say we love Him and If you call God your King and the Lord, you must act accordingly.
