THE REASON WHY YOU WERE CREATED by Diane Solver

Many of us have forgotten the reason why we were created. We do not know the purpose of our creation in God’s point of view. Most of us only know that we must live our lives to the fullest and fulfill all our goals and dreams in life. Why did God created Adam and Eve? Why did God created us?

After God created everything else, He said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” Stooping down, He took up clay and shaped it. He shaped and formed Adam and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and he became a living soul. God created Adam and Eve and He placed them in the beautiful garden of Eden. In the cool of the day, God walked with Adam and Eve in the garden and they joyfully adored God and have fellowship with Him. Unlike any of God’s creation, it was only Adam and Eve who were able to provide the fellowship that God desired. Back then, Adam and Eve have no any other concerns in life. Their nakedness was not their concern because God’s glory clothed and covered them. All they did was to talk to God, walked with Him, loved Him and worshiped Him every single day in Eden. Adam and Eve’s unique purpose in life was to bring joy and fellowship to God. It was the reason why they were created, that they might worship God, glorify Him and love Him forever.

Everything was perfect in the garden for Adam and Eve. Then one day, God withdrew for a moment. While He was gone, the evil one, Satan came and deceived Adam and Eve. They disobeyed God and the fellowship was broken. After they ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they looked at themselves for the first time and saw themselves in different light. They gathered fig leaves to hide their nakedness. Adam and Eve became consumed with their outer appearance. They focused on the outside and they have forgotten their inward beauty and the reason why they were created.

God came just like before and He searched for Adam and Eve. They were nowhere to be found and He called them, “Where are you?” That time, Adam and Eve were hiding among the trees. They heard the voice of God calling them like before so they can walk in the garden and have some time together. Adam and Eve were afraid because they were worrying about their nakedness. They might thought, “What was God doing here?” They have forgotten that God came so that He may have some time with them again. Something happened during the fall that changed Adam and Eve’s relationship with God. They have forgotten their unique purpose of worshiping God. Adam and Eve forgot who they were. They forgot the purpose of their existence. So they wander out into the world not knowing why they live.

Many people of today still do not know the reason why they were created. The enemy had robbed us of our true identity. We do not know why we are here so many people search for answers and explanation of their existence. If you asked someone, “Why are you here? What is the purpose of your life?” He/she might answer, “I want to make money. I want to fulfill my goals and dreams. I want to be successful in life.” But those things that people want are temporary. We can do them in our life and then we get old and die. But what is the real purpose of your life?

This is the condition of us today. People do not know why they are here. People do not know the purpose of their life. The enemy, Satan, offers everything in the world so he can keep us from finding our true purpose. He offers us anything that will distract us and consume our time, our whole life to other things that we were not created for. In the Bible, our defined purpose is that we might worship God and enjoy Him forever. Are you worshiping God? Do you spend time with Him, talking to Him, worshiping, adoring Him? Or do you spend your time to other things not knowing your true purpose?

Don’t you know that in heaven, they are worshiping God without ceasing saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” (Isaiah 6:3) God made us in His own image so we can live forever in His presence and worship Him. He created us so we can worship Him in the beauty of His glory and holiness. That is the reason why we were created.

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!” Psalm 95:6
